The NH has over 40-year story. Today it is a benchmark operator of city hotels in Europe and Latin America. The group has 380 hotels in 29 countries with over 53,000 rooms. NH ("Navarra Hoteles", named after the region in Spain) was founded in 1978 by Antonio Catalán. Four years later, the chain moved beyond the region of Navarra: by adding the NH Calderón de Barcelona to its portfolio it took its first steps towards nationwide growth, expansion that would gather momentum throughout the 1980s.
By the end of 1995, NH was already one of Spain’s leading city hotel chains, with 54 establishments located nationwide. That year, NH Hoteles began to manifest its strategic commitment to culture with the launch of what are today known as the Mario Vargas Llosa NH Short Story Prizes, aimed at helping fledgling writers and encouraging reading and the literary creation process. As part of its strategic efforts to foster culture, in 1998 the chain launched NH Stock Art, travelling exhibitions in the vicinity of the Group’s hotels in a bid to support the work of upcoming artists. This was also the year in which the Group launched its corporate website, adding a new and direct sales channel. 
In 1999 NH Hoteles also acquired 91.5% of Sotogrande, a company devoted to the development of premium residences designed for family living.

Since 2018, NH Hotel Group is part of Minor Hotels, which is one of the fastest growing hospitality companies. The group made a total revenue of approximately US$4.6 billion in 2019. Minor Hotels manages in total more than 530 hotels, resorts and branded residences across five continents, being currently the 13th biggest hotel chain world-wide.   • Online guest service - by digitizing all the information about the hotel and its services, and allowing room service or minibar orders to be made on a mobile device.
  • Digital Guest Relations service for immediate communication with hotel staff.
  • Surface cleaning in common areas – the reception, lobby, corridors, restrooms, restaurants and other hotel common areas are sanitized in line with protocols, products and medical frequency.
  • Room sanitizing – we use technology and highly effective cleaning products on all surfaces, objects and decorative items, and clinically proven protocols for laundering textiles.
  • Kitchen and utensil sterilization – using cleaning products and practices in line with hospital protocols.

To minimize risks, hotels have adapted processes for ordering, preparing, delivering, consuming and paying for food & beverage services.
  • Supplier certification – we follow the strictest safety protocols in delivery processes.
  • Food safety - we are reducing product handling and human contact during both preparation and delivery, by using single-use packaging.
  • Room service and take out products – our restaurants and room service follow strict safety protocols and are only offering products on the menu.
  • Adapted meeting and event catering – with new presentation options which minimize the risk of infection.
